CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) is a psychotherapeutic approach in which the primary method involves identifying destructive and false thoughts, behavioral patterns, and beliefs, then replacing them with more productive and realistic ones.
In the CBT series, the artist engages with this method. Canvases become the inner space of consciousness, where Observer characters (inner children—of which one person may have several) search for and attempt to catch disruptive little flies (thoughts), then replace them with others—those that create a more favorable ecosystem.
In this work, the Observers are assisted by tools—spiders. Other images also emerge in the paintings, each either settling in securely or barely touching the surface.
The process of creating each canvas in the series involves the methodical layering of various materials, colors, and textures to construct a complex, illuminated space within the mind.
